Canyon seeks a full-time Social Media Coordinator to manage the day-to-day executionof our social media presence.
Who We AreCanyon is a contemporary art space opening in Fall 2026 on the Lower East Side of NewYork City, dedicated to the exhibition of time-based media art and performance.
Position Overview• The Social Media Coordinator is the pulse of Canyon's digital community. Reporting to• the Associate Director of Digital Strategy, you will be responsible for the day-to-day• execution of our social media presence, turning Canyon's exhibitions and durational• programs into viral-ready, high-engagement content.• You are a creator at heart-someone who can spot a trend, frame a shot in our• state-of-the-art galleries, and write a caption that stops the scroll. This role is essential• in building anticipation for our Fall 2026 opening, driving visitation, and establishing• Canyon's reputation as the epicenter of New York City's cultural and social scene.
Key Responsibilities• Content Creation & Production: Lead the end-to-end creation of social-first• content. This includes scripting, shooting, and editing short-form video(Reels/TikTok), photography, and drafting engaging copy that mirrors Canyon's• voice.• Calendar Management: Own the monthly content calendar, ensuring a consistent• and strategic flow of posts that highlight institutional priorities, from artist• spotlights to our hospitality offerings.• Community Management: Act as the digital voice of Canyon. Monitor comments,• foster conversations, and manage inbound inquiries to build a vibrant, inclusive• online community that feels like an extension of our physical venue.• On-Site Capturing: Be the "eyes and ears" on the ground, using iPhones, DSLRs,• and gimbals to capture the build-up to our opening, live performances, and the• unique energy of our Lower East Side location.• Project Coordination: Work closely with the Associate Director of Digital Strategy,• and the greater Communications & Marketing department to ensure all marketing• and institutional priorities are seamlessly integrated.• Influencer & Partner Support: Help identify and coordinate with digital creators,• artists, and nightlife influencers to expand Canyon's reach to new and diverse• audiences.• Trend Spotting: Stay informed with the latest platform updates and cultural• trends, quickly translating them into actionable ideas that keep Canyon relevant.
Required Skills & Experience
• Digital Storytelling: A proven ability to tell a story in 15 seconds or less. You• understand the "hook, meat, and payoff" of successful social content, especially• within the realms of video, performance, and sound-based art.• Technical Proficiency: Skilled in mobile video editing (CapCut, InShot, or Adobe• Premiere Rush), social management tools (Sprout Social, Asana), and Meta• Business Suite.• Eye for Detail: High aesthetic standards for photography and video, with the• ability to use lighting and sound equipment to produce professional-grade social• assets that match our state-of-the-art venue.• Agility & Proactivity: You thrive in a fast-paced environment, can pivot when• news breaks, and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a• high-energy creative team.• Cultural Fluency: A genuine passion for the arts and an understanding of the• intersection between the non-profit world and New York City's social/nightlife• landscape.
Qualifications• Experience: 1 - 3+ years of professional experience in social media or digital• marketing, preferably within a creative, cultural, or lifestyle industry.• Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Art History, Communications, or a• related field.• Portfolio: A strong portfolio or "reel" of social media work that demonstrates• your creativity and technical execution.• Communication: Exceptional writing skills with the ability to adapt tone for• different platforms.
Salary & Benefits• Salary is commensurate with experience. The expected range is $60,000 - $65,000.• This is a full-time salaried position. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision• insurance; life, AD&D, long-term disability, and short-term disability insurance; a Health• Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account; a 401(k) retirement account with a• matching contribution; and tuition reimbursement.• We are an equal-opportunity employer.
