THRIVE Academy is a Trauma-Informed, Therapeutic school serving students in grades K–12 from 27+ partner districts across Iowa. As part of the Manson Northwest Webster Community School District, THRIVE provides an alternative educational setting for students with social-emotional, behavioral, mental health, and academic needs.
With small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and embedded classroom support, THRIVE teachers are able to focus on meaningful instruction, strong relationships, and individualized student growth.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Middle School / High School Social Studies Teacher to join our collaborative and mission-driven team. In this role, you will guide students through social studies content while creating a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and responsive to students' experiences and learning needs.
At THRIVE, social studies instruction emphasizes connection, relevance, and critical thinking, helping students understand history, government, geography, and society while also developing empathy, communication skills, and civic awareness.
What You'll Do
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and families.
- Deliver district- and state-approved social studies curriculum aligned to standards.
- Design and implement differentiated lesson plans to meet individual and small-group learning needs.
- Provide meaningful, timely feedback to support student academic and interpersonal growth.
- Create a safe, trauma-informed classroom environment conducive to learning and discussion.
- Utilize MTSS frameworks to support both academic and behavioral development.
- Collaborate with staff to address students' social-emotional and behavioral needs.
- Maintain accurate grades, attendance, and documentation
- Communicate clearly and professionally regarding progress, expectations, and goals.
- Engage in professional learning and growth to strengthen instructional and relational practices.

Certification Requirements
- Iowa Teaching License
- 5–12 Social Studies Endorsement
