POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the primary direction of the Social Services Director, the Social Worker will provide direct support and services to clients as part of the Social Services Department within multiple programs and varying populations. The Social Worker will provide assessment, intervention, and case management services to clients both in a field and office setting. This position will work in partnership with other clinical and healthcare professionals, responsible for managing caseloads and be responsible for maintaining confidential and accurate records at all times.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide case management services, including maintaining accurate records and files;
  • Provide assessment and intervention/referral services, including preparing letters and documents;
  • Provide supervised visitation services for family support and child welfare services;
  • Provide parents and the Pala community with psychoeducational information and materials to promote healthy parenting styles;
  • Prepare court reports and attend court hearings;
  • Grant reporting and associated activities;
  • Maintain the safety and confidentiality of clients;
  • Provide services that prioritize and align with Native cultural values;
  • Perform related functions as
  • Responsibilities include providing supervision and managerial functions, including planning, organizing, and directing other social workers and caseworkers;
  • Apply regulations and policies pertaining to the social service department;
  • Make administrative suggestions and recommendations, develop and improve processes, including policies and

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide mental health/suicide intervention services and make appropriate referrals
  • Provide post- crisis follow up services, including coordinating services and referrals
  • Assess for food insecurity and provide appropriate referrals
  • Provide supervised visitation services for family support and child welfare
  • Provide parents and the Pala community with psychoeducational information and materials to promote healthy parenting styles.

Social Work & Case Management

  • Provide comprehensive case management services to Tribal members across the
  • Conduct assessments to identify individual and family
  • Develop culturally appropriate service plans in collaboration with clients and interdisciplinary
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to confidentiality

Foster Care Social Work

  • Recruit, train, and support Tribal foster and kinship care
  • Monitor child placements to ensure compliance with ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act) and Tribal
  • Work collaboratively with courts, child welfare agencies, and biological families to promote family reunification when appropriate.

Housing Advocacy

  • Assist individuals and families in accessing emergency shelter, transitional housing, and long-term housing
  • Advocate for clients in housing court and with
  • Coordinate with housing authorities and Tribal housing programs to ensure safe and affordable living

Student Advocacy

  • Support Native youth in navigating educational systems (K-12 and post-secondary).
  • Collaborate with schools to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and advocate for academic
  • Address barriers to attendance, engagement, and success, including transportation, mental health, and family

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and understanding of child development, child welfare and behavioral health
  • Ability to work independently but with strong teamwork commitment
  • Ability to use computer for data entry and periodic reporting
  • Endorsement and support of family preservation goals, Tribal culture and philosophy
  • Good interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • Maintain ethical guidelines, as well as collaborate with community partner agencies to access appropriate referral services for clients and families
  • Previous experience working with Native American Populations or individuals with mental health challenges would be preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology or any other related field, from an accredited college or university, or
  • A combination of four years of education and work experience in similar or related
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing during
  • Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and be able to work with
  • Must have a valid class "C" driver's license and have a clean driving
  • Must be willing to work in the field and travel within and outside of city
  • CPR/First Aid certified preferred; if not, certification must be completed within 60 days of being hired
  • Indian preference will The Pala Band of Mission Indians will give hiring preference to fully qualified applicants that are Pala Tribal Members.
