Software Development Process Engineer - Software Quality & GovernanceLocation: Erie, PA (Onsite)Relocation: Open
Duties and Responsibilities
- Tailor, define, document, and deploy applicable software development processes across engineering teams.
- Establish and implement relevant software quality metrics to measure process effectiveness and adherence.
- Drive continuous software process improvement initiatives to improve engineering quality and consistency.
- Monitor software quality assurance performance, prepare governance reports, and highlight potential risks.
- Conduct software process gap analysis and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Perform root cause analysis using quality control techniques such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and other applicable methods.
- Ensure defined software quality assurance parameters are achieved and process adherence is demonstrated through first-pass yield analysis.
- Develop and maintain software process documentation aligned with organizational quality standards.
- Provide training, guidance, and coaching to engineering teams to ensure software process adherence.
- Work with engineering stakeholders to implement standardized development practices across different teams and environments.
- Support process improvement initiatives through measurable quality metrics and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 10-15 years of overall experience in Software Development or Software Quality Assurance.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Quality Governance.
- Strong experience defining, implementing, and improving software development processes.
- Experience working with multiple software development methodologies, including Waterfall, Iterative, and Agile.
- Proven track record of implementing industry best development practices across different work cultures and environments.
- Experience leading projects of varying size and complexity using multiple development processes.
- Experience working with Quality Management Systems (QMS) in large, matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrated experience using software development process improvement techniques to drive organizational change.
- Strong hands-on experience with root cause analysis techniques and quality control tools, including 5 Whys and Fishbone analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Visio, and related process documentation and reporting tools.
- Strong leadership, training, coaching, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Educational background in Engineering or Software Development.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining process quality and delivery timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing internal tools or reporting solutions using Power Apps, Power BI, Python, or similar technologies.
- Experience supporting software process governance across multiple engineering teams.
- Experience developing quality metrics, process improvement reports, and governance dashboards.
