Software Engineer — Java / Big Data / Cloud

Here’s What Your Day-to-Day Could Include

Design and build software components that process large volumes of data across distributed environments
Develop new Java services that support mission data processing
Optimize MapReduce workflows and improve system performance
Troubleshoot production issues across distributed platforms
Integrate cloud-based capabilities into existing mission systems
Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and mission stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable technical solutions
Support coding, debugging, integration, and continuous improvement of production systems

Minimum Qualifications

Clearance: Top Secret Clearance with Polygraph, must be active. We do not have the ability to sponsor clearances
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen. We cannot sponsor visas
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline and at least seven years of Software Engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
Four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree
Demonstrated experience working with distributed data systems and cloud-enabled environments is required

Required Skills

Strong software development experience using Java
Experience with the MapReduce programming model and associated technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, and Pig
Experience working with distributed Big Data platforms
Familiarity with NoSQL data stores such as HBase, Accumulo, or BigTable
Experience with Hadoop Distributed File System, HDFS
Cloud environment experience
Ability to design, develop, debug, and integrate complex software systems
Experience working with serialization formats such as JSON or BSON
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Desired Skills

Experience with GhostMachine or QTA environments
Familiarity with large-scale analytics platforms
Experience optimizing performance for high-volume data pipelines
Ability to work independently in mission-driven environments

Compensation Range: $139,000.00 - $179,000.00*The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role.
