Job Description

The Software Engineer (Platform & Integrations) plays a critical role in building and maintaining the internal systems that power Salma Health’s integrated brain health platform. This role focuses on connecting the systems that run our clinical operations — including EHR and CRM platforms, billing systems, internal applications, and research tools. This role will design and maintain integrations, build internal tooling for clinical and operational teams, and ensure data flows reliably across our tech ecosystem. Working closely with engineering, product, clinical operations, and data teams, this role helps ensure that our underlying platform is reliable, scalable, and capable of supporting a rapidly growing healthcare organization.

Location

Hybrid role. Preference for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, or Salt Lake City. Remote is possible, with the expectation of regular in-person collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain integrations between critical systems including EHRs, CRM platforms, billing/RCM tools, and internal applications.

  • Build internal tools that support care coordinators, clinicians, and administrative teams.

  • Develop and maintain APIs and services that enable reliable data exchange across systems.

  • Implement event-driven workflows and services that sync data across platforms.

  • Ensure data integrity and reliability across system boundaries, including monitoring and reconciliation.

  • Develop cloud-native services on AWS, including serverless and event-driven architectures.

  • Work across multiple languages and runtimes (Node.js, Python, Ruby) based on needs.

  • Collaborate with product, clinical, and operations teams to translate workflow requirements into scalable software solutions.

  • Partner with AI and research teams to operationalize data pipelines and platform capabilities.

  • Make pragmatic architectural decisions that balance speed, reliability, and healthcare regulatory requirements.

  • Improve internal developer productivity by defining integration patterns, reusable services, and platform standards.

  • Help establish the foundation for a scalable healthcare technology platform.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in startup or high-ownership environments.

  • Strong experience building backend systems and APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).

  • Experience designing and maintaining integrations with third-party systems and APIs.

  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating applications in AWS or another major cloud provider.

  • Comfort working across multiple programming languages and technologies depending on system needs.

  • Experience building internal tools or operational platforms.

  • Track record of shipping production systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with non-engineering stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating/migrating healthcare platforms such as EHRs, CRM, or billing/RCM.

  • Exposure to healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7) or regulated environments handling sensitive data.

  • Experience designing event-driven systems, background job architectures, or workflow orchestration.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation for this position includes:

  • Base: The base salary range for this role is $123,000–$183,000, depending on geographic location, experience, and qualifications. Salma Health uses a tiered compensation structure based on candidate location. Specific range details are available during the interview process.

  • Incentives: Discretionary bonus and/or stock option grants based on company and individual performance

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, PTO, and additional benefits
