Job Description

 At Starr & Associates (S&A), we are a full-service business consulting firm delivering custom technology solutions across multiple industries and business domains. Software Engineers are deployed onto active client engagements to support targeted integration, API development, and application enablement efforts
This role is designed for an experienced Software Engineer focused on API development, system integration, and lightweight web interfaces. Engineers in this role contribute hands-on code that enables secure data movement, controlled user interaction, and integration with downstream platforms. This is not a large-scale enterprise application role. 
Current engagements may include initiatives that require experience supporting emissions-focused or environmentally driven programs, particularly where data accuracy, traceability, and security are important. This role supports deployment across different projects and industries over time, based on client demand. 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • API Development: Design, develop, and maintain secure APIs that support system-to-system data exchange
  • System Integration: Build and support integration services connecting source systems, platforms, and downstream applications
  • Web Interface Development: Design and develop web-based user interfaces and supporting services for data entry, review, and access control, including integration with backend APIs and services
  • Authentication & Security: Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms aligned with enterprise security standards, including single sign-on
  • Requirements Collaboration: Work closely with Business Analysts and Project Managers to translate requirements into working code
  • Code Quality: Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with development standards
  • Testing & Validation: Support unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution 
  • Deployment Support: Assist with build, release, and deployment activities
  • Production Support: Support troubleshooting and issue resolution for deployed solutions
  • Consulting Engagement Support: Operate effectively within a client-facing consulting delivery environment
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree required 
  • Preferred fields include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related disciplines 
Required Skills
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer 
  • Strong experience developing APIs and integration services
  • Proficiency in .NET and C# for backend, API, and lightweight web-based development 
  • Experience building web interfaces using Angular and/or React
  • Experience implementing authentication and authorization using Azure Active Directory or similar identity provider
  • Experience working with RESTful services and JSON-based integrations
  • Understanding of secure coding practices
  • Ability to work effectively in project-based or consulting delivery environments
Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred, Not Required)
  • Experience supporting emissions or environmental initiatives
  • Experience integrating with analytics or reporting platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud-based integration patterns, particularly in Azure
  • Experience supporting data ingestion, validation, or extract workflows
