Software Engineer Senior - Combats Systems, Airborne Software

Description:Our Team:

We lead the full lifecycle of embedded and mission software development-from requirements, architecture, and design to implementation, integration, and test. Our expertise spans air vehicle systems, avionics, communications, and infrastructure software, including supplier and subsystem integration. We drive CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps automation, and simulation environments, while ensuring compliance with airworthiness, safety, and cybersecurity standards.

Our team supports aircraft integration, GNC, and hardware/software coordination, leveraging MBSE, Cameo modeling, and SCFTA for system design. We execute rigorous software testing (UT, FQT, regression, FMET, SCO), support flight test and control room operations, and deliver data analysis, customer demos, and proposal content. Through agile processes, planning, and peer reviews, we ensure technical excellence and mission success across SPI, CAM, IPTL, and SPE roles.

What you will do:

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our ADP Tactical Software team. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field with 5+ years of hands-on experience in bare metal and vehicle-level software development. This role requires a strong working knowledge of software interface design, including networked communication protocols for integration testing and hardware interfaces for system integration. You will contribute to the development and integration of embedded and vehicle system software for advanced tactical platforms, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across the full software development lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a Computer Science minor
• Experience with C/C++ software development
• UDP networking and software integration
• Development on a Linux OS
• Experience developing software for vehicle systems
• Ability to obtain Secret clearance or have current Secret clearance

Desired Skills:

• Experience with OOP (Object Oriented Programming)
• Experience with Cmake
• Real-time software development
• Experience with MBSE and Cameo
• High level of rigor processes and experience developing airworthiness artifacts
• HoneyBadger development experience
• VLRTP and OpCodes experience
• Understanding of interfacing with Mission Systems
• Understanding and knowledge of UCI messages
• Experience with UAS/Drone system architecture
• Bare metal/cyclic executive real-time system experience
• Understanding and knowledge of Guidance, Navigation & Control systems

• Experience with working on classified (air gapped) networks
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $93,200 - $164,450. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
