Agate Software is seeking a Solutions Engineer to lead the technical side of our consultative sales process. This role bridges Sales, Product, and Delivery - helping public sector customers envision how our highly configurable platform can address their grants management needs. You’ll drive discovery, shape solution design, and ensure handoffs to delivery teams are clear and executable.
You’ll play a key role in both enterprise deployments and the rollout of IG Essentials, our new off-the-shelf product line. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can influence technical strategy, and understands how to scope what we can profitably deliver.
Note this is a hybrid role with requirements to be onsite 3 days/week
What You'll Do
- Lead technical discovery with government agencies and enterprise nonprofits to understand needs, pain points, and system architecture.
- Collaborate with Account Managers, Project Managers, and Product to design solutions that are technically feasible, clearly scoped, and aligned with customer goals.
- Support RFP responses with technical documentation, estimates, and architecture input.
- Build and deliver tailored demos for complex use cases, leveraging reusable demo templates where possible.
- Provide clean, detailed handoffs to the Service Delivery and Product teams to reduce rework and scope gaps.
- Support the launch and sale of product portfolio by creating scalable demo flows and standardized pre-sales resources.
- Track scope accuracy and feedback from the Service Delivery team to improve pre-sales processes over time.
- Partner with Product to surface common requests or implementation blockers.
What You'll Bring
- 4–7 years in a technical pre-sales, solution consulting, or implementation role at a SaaS company, ideally with public sector, government sector, or highly regulated clients.
- Deep understanding of how to translate business requirements into technical designs or platform configurations.
- Familiarity with RFP processes, public procurement constraints, and statement of work development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present confidently to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with highly configurable platforms like Salesforce, Oracle, HubSpot or other enterprise SaaS.
- Comfort operating in a fast-changing environment with legacy systems, unclear processes, and shifting priorities.
- Bonus: familiarity with XML, SQL, APIs, or low-code tools.
