Description

Kona Kai San Diego Resort is a boutique urban resort located on Shelter Island. With 170 guestrooms, Kona Kai Resort is home to Vessel Restaurant + Bar, SpaTerre, a marina and a private club, all located just minutes from downtown San Diego. We are currently seeking a positive, hard-working, self-motivated individual to join our fantastic team as our Spa Manager at our island-inspired resort.

THE JOB:

The Spa Manager leads the daily operation of the Spa and Wellness Department, overseeing spa operations, wellness programming, treatment standards, retail performance, and guest service delivery. This role provides leadership to spa therapists and supports staff through scheduling, coaching, and performance management while driving spa revenue growth and retail results. The Spa Manager ensures consistent service execution, compliance with health and safety standards, and a high-quality guest experience through hands-on leadership and operational oversight, collaborating with resort leadership to support a profitable and well-run spa operation.

This role will report to: Director of Operations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in spa, wellness, or hospitality operations, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or management role
  • Proven experience leading spa therapists or service teams, including scheduling, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strong working knowledge of spa operations, luxury service standards, guest relations, and applicable health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to drive spa revenue, including retail performance and service upselling.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn spa scheduling, POS, and reservation systems.

  • Potential annual incentive payout of 0%-33% of base compensation, subject to plan terms and performance criteria.
