Job Description
Special education paraprofessionals work under the overall supervision of the building principal with direct supervision provided by special education teachers. They are employed when required to implement special education or related services to students with IEP's and duties will vary depending upon the age of students, the student's placement, and the nature and severity of the student's disabilities. Paraprofessionals assist students with special needs under the direction of a certified special education teacher and generally work in an inclusionary setting (i.e. least restrictive environment).
