K-5 Special Education TeacherLocation: Winter Park, FLSchedule: Full-Time, Monday-FridayEmployment Type: ContractPay Rate: Starting at $35/hour (dependent on experience)Position OverviewBirch Agency is seeking a passionate and dedicated K-5 Special Education Teacher for an exciting school-based opportunity in Winter Park, Florida.This position offers the opportunity to work with elementary students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, providing individualized instruction and academic support to help students reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with diverse learning needs in small-group and individualized settings and will thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary educational environment.Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals.
- Provide small group (6-7 students) and individualized instruction tailored to each student's unique educational needs.
- Deliver differentiated instruction based on students' academic, developmental, behavioral, and communication needs.
- Adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, classroom accommodations, and learning materials to support student success.
- Collaborate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team to plan and implement individualized educational programs.
- Collect, analyze, and utilize student data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, progress reports, and educational documentation.
- Integrate the principles of Conductive Education into daily instruction, including modifications necessary to meet students' individualized needs.
- Work closely with educators, therapists, administrators, and families to establish and support student goals across physical, cognitive, academic, and social domains.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans as needed to maximize achievement.
- Implement proactive behavior management strategies, including positive redirection, data collection, functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention planning.
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, professional development activities, and school-wide initiatives.
- Foster a structured, inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment.
- Provide basic caregiving support using universal health and safety precautions when required.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations and requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required.
- Active Florida Professional Teaching Certificate (PreK-3rd).
- Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Endorsement required or ability to obtain.
- Active Florida Special Education/ESE Teaching Certification.
- American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency preferred.
- Experience teaching elementary-aged students in small group and/or one-on-one instructional settings.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, assessment, and special education compliance.
- Demonstrated classroom management and behavior management skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction for students functioning at varying developmental levels.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated collaboration, human relations, and conflict resolution skills.
- Commitment to helping students achieve academic, social, and personal success.
- Elementary school setting serving students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
