Job Title: Special Education TeacherLocation: Florence, SC 29506Schedule: Full-time, school-based (open to considering candidates looking to work part time aswell)Employment Type: ContractPay Rate: Starting at $38/hour (dependent on experience)Position OverviewBirch Agency is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to support students in school-based settings throughout Florence, South Carolina. These opportunities allow educators to make a meaningful impact by providing individualized academic, behavioral, and developmental support to students with diverse learning needs.We are actively seeking professionals who are passionate about creating structured, supportive learning environments and helping students reach their full academic and social potential.Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and educational goals.
- Provide differentiated instruction for students with a variety of disabilities and learning challenges.
- Deliver services in inclusive, self-contained, push-in, or pull-out models depending on student placement.
- Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff trainings, and multidisciplinary planning sessions.
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Foster a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Bachelor s degree in Special Education or related field preferred.
- Active South Carolina Special Education teaching certification required (or ability to obtain through reciprocity/provisional pathways).
- Experience working with students with mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Passion for supporting students with diverse educational and behavioral needs.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and meet compliance timelines.
- School-based setting (elementary, middle, or high school opportunities may be available).
