Job Title: Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher 8th GradeLocation: Charlotte, NC 28262Schedule: Full-time, school-basedEmployment Type: ContractGrade Level: 8th GradeSubjects: Reading & MathClassroom Settings: Inclusion & ResourcePosition OverviewBirch Agency is seeking a dedicated 8th-Grade Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to support students in a school-based setting in Charlotte, North Carolina.The teacher will provide specialized instruction in both reading and math and will support students across inclusion and resource classroom settings. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys collaborating with general education teachers while providing targeted, individualized support to students with diverse learning needs.Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction in 8th-grade reading and math.
- Support students in both inclusion and resource classroom settings.
- Develop and implement instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and individual learning needs.
- Provide accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction as appropriate.
- Monitor student progress through assessment and ongoing data collection.
- Develop and maintain accurate IEP documentation and progress reports.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in inclusive classroom environments.
- Implement effective classroom management and positive behavior support strategies.
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, professional development, and other school activities.
- Maintain consistent communication with families, school staff, and related service providers.
- Foster a supportive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Valid North Carolina Exceptional Children/Special Education teaching license
- Experience teaching students at the middle school level is a plus
- Strong knowledge of reading and math instruction.
- Experience working in inclusion and/or resource settings is a plus
- Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective IEP-based instruction.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Full-time, school-based position in Charlotte, NC.
- 8th-grade student population.
