Job Description

- EducationRequirements: Bachelors degree in Education-related field (Music Education) or equivalent
- CertificationsRequirements: Valid Special Education teaching certification in Michigan (interim via alternate route acceptable) and Learning Disabilities (LD) certification
- ExperienceRequirements: Minimum 1 year Special Education Teacher experience; 6 years Special Education teaching experience with middle school/grades 8 serving students with ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities; experience independently managing IEP caseloads and related documentation
- OtherRequirements: Must be comfortable managing IEP process independently (writing goals/IEPs, collaborating with the IEP team, and tracking required documentation); experience participating in MDRs/Manifestation Determination Review and maintaining student records and suspension tracking; ability to work with a range of needs (ADHD, autism, emotional impairment, specific learning disabilities in reading comprehension and math calculation) and support students across K12 (and beyond as needed); strong classroom management and behavior support approach (including creating a calm, supportive atmosphere); collaborative communication with teachers, parents, and related service providers; reliable day commute capability (preference for ~45 minutes to 1 hour / ~50 miles); full-time school setting with days schedule; must maintain organized, accurate recordkeeping and stay compliant with district and state requirements; flexible, easygoing, and solutions-oriented mindset; must be able to meet contract year timing for 2627.
