Special Education Substitute Teacher 3-5 yrs old
Position Summary
Early Intervention services support children with developmental delays, disabilities, and special needs from age three until kindergarten. This role ensures that young learners receive high‑quality instruction, individualized support, and early intervention strategies that help build foundational skills during their most critical years of development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality instruction aligned with IEP goals, curriculum standards, and classroom routines in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Collaborate with special education staff, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to maintain continuity of services and student support.
- Implement proactive behavior management strategies and differentiated instruction to meet the developmental and individual needs of each child.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, attendance, and daily classroom activities.
- Support students in both academic and functional life‑skills activities within early childhood settings.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and respectful classroom environment while upholding program policies and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Valid teaching certification: PDE Type 06 Permit (Day‑to‑Day Substitute) or ideally PDE Type 04 Permit (Long‑Term Substitute).
- Prior teaching experience in Early Intervention, special education, or inclusive early childhood settings (Pre-K to early elementary preferred).
- Strong understanding of IEPs, developmental milestones, accommodations, and instructional modifications.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly, remain flexible, and support young learners in a dynamic educational environment.
