Full-Time, Onsite in Bremerton, WA

Exempt (Salaried): $82,700.80 - $103,376 per year

Kitsap Mental Health Services is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our Madrona Day Treatment program. This role supports children with behavioral health needs in a therapeutic educational setting where learning, growth, and emotional well-being go hand in hand. Working as part of a team, you'll provide individualized instruction and behavioral support while helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an Individualized Educational Plan for each student. Include curriculum plans with appropriate levels of remediation in core subject areas, behavioral targets, and proposed outcomes necessary for the transition. Review and amend the IEP for each client as appropriate and timely.
  • Develop, implement, and teach academic curriculum and activities to support IEP needs and meet Washington State learning standards for each student accurately and promptly. Lead academic groups, lessons, and activities for students.
  • In collaboration with other treatment team members, assist in developing an individual treatment/behavior plan for students enrolled in the Day Treatment program. Assist in the implementation of behavioral/intervention plans as outlined in the treatment plan.
  • Assist the treatment team in meeting students' social, emotional, and developmental needs by providing a positive, structured, and therapeutic environment. Work with other team members to maintain an aesthetically pleasing and therapeutic environment.
  • Support the treatment team in coordinating and preparing materials needed for the transition of students in and out of the day treatment program. Attend transition meetings as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with KMHS programs, school district personnel, and other public or private agencies to provide a level of care essential for our day treatment students.
  • As necessary, participate in any meetings, case consultations, program staff meetings, and admission/discharge planning meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Education

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum of 2 years of job-related experience)

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (can be obtained after hire). Certification in special education in Washington State.

Per RCW 28A.400.303, contractors of contracts with school districts that "have regularly scheduled unsupervised access to children" must go through FBI fingerprinting.

Food Handler's Permit is required for Madrona, preferred for Sequoia Program and Restorative School.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Education

EXPERIENCE: Intermediate (minimum of 3 years of job-related experience)

Experience working with the Special Education population is strongly preferred. Experience with IEPs, Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention Plans is strongly preferred.

Educational or classroom management experience preferred.
