Job Description
Immediate Special Education Teacher opportunities for school year 2026/2027 in the greater Columbia, SC area. Interviews and job offers are fast tracked for qualified candidates! Schools located in Lugoff, Camden, Blythewood and Elgin, SC.Note: Must hold one of the following: South Carolina Special Education Multi Categorical, Behavioral Disabilities, or Emotional Disabilities certification. If out of state, candidate will need to file for reciprocity and show they have completed all necessary stepsPay Rate: $50.00/hr Work Schedule:
- 7:00am - 3:00pm (Monday to Friday)
- School year schedule
- Develops, implements, and monitors Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state and federal regulations.
- Plans and delivers instructional lessons that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students with disabilities.
- Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is safe, structured, and conducive to learning.
- Employs a variety of instructional strategies, interventions, and adaptive materials to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Works collaboratively with general education teachers to promote inclusion and mainstreaming opportunities when appropriate.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student progress, maintains accurate records, and prepares required reports and documentation.
- Schedules, facilitates, and participates in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and reevaluations.
- Maintains regular communication with parents, guardians, educators, and support staff regarding student needs and progress.
- Enforces district policies, classroom procedures, and behavior plans in a fair and consistent manner.
- Supervises students during transitions, lunch, field trips, and other school-related activities to ensure safety.
- Provides basic first aid and responds appropriately to student health and safety needs.
- South Carolina Teacher Certification in one of the following areas:
- Generic Special Education
- Multi-Categorical
- Learning Disabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and procedures (IDEA compliance).
