Mozaic (a chapter of The Arc) is hiring a Special Education Teacher for Keuka Lake School at our satellite classroom, located in Bath, NY!

Special Education Teacher Duties and Responsibilities:

The Specials Education Teacher is responsible for utilizing each child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) to provide a quality learning environment for all children. This includes instructing preschool-aged children, both with and without disabilities, in areas such as cognitive development, language, gross and fine motor skills, and behavior management. They are tasked with creating and implementing lesson plans, procedures, and activities that align with developmental goals while ensuring the health and safety of the children in their care. The teacher must properly use adaptive equipment and follow therapeutic behavioral plans developed by the child's clinicians. Additionally, they are responsible for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with parents and guardians, addressing any questions or concerns they may have. The teacher coordinates with all team members to develop IEP goals, provide updates, and prepare progress reports for each child, while also facilitating weekly classroom planning meetings to share information, adjust goals, and discuss the progress and concerns of the children.

Schedule:

Monday- Friday 7:30 am- 3:30 pm

37.5 hours per week

Location: Bath NY

Special Education Teacher Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree of Science in Early Childhood and/or Special Education from an accredited New York State College
  • Must complete at least 30 hours of training every two years as required by NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS)
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with staff and students in a positive manner
  • Current Initial certification or higher
Additional Requirements for Special Education Teachers

Obtain a Master's degree and permanent certification in a related field within 5 years (if not already obtained).
