Job Description

Special Education Teacher – Middle School (Resource/Co-Taught)2026–2027 School Year

Phaxis Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a middle school team for the 2026–2027 school year. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative educational environment supporting students in resource and co-taught classroom settings. Position Details

  • Position: Special Education Teacher
  • Location: Illinois
  • School Year: August 17, 2026 – May 28, 2027
  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
  • Setting: Middle School
  • Classroom Type: Resource and Co-Taught Classrooms
  • Caseload: Approximately 15 students

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized instruction to meet students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Create, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to provide support within co-taught classrooms.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with families, school staff, and related service providers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings and other required school meetings.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).
  • Active Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and classroom management skills.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
