Special Education Teacher – Upper Elementary (Reading & Math Intervention)2026–2027 School Year

Phaxis Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher to join an upper elementary school team for the 2026–2027 school year. This position is ideal for an educator who has a strong background in reading instruction and enjoys helping students build confidence and achieve academic success in both reading and math.

We welcome experienced educators as well as new graduates who are passionate about supporting diverse learners in a collaborative school environment.

Position Details

  • Position: Special Education Teacher
  • Location: Illinois
  • School Year: 2026–2027
  • Schedule: 32.5 hours per week
  • Setting: Upper Elementary School
  • Grade Levels: 4th–5th Grade
  • Primary Focus: Reading and Math Instruction

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction in reading and math to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Deliver evidence-based reading interventions and differentiated instruction to support student growth.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies based on data and individual needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes academic and personal growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).
  • Active Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement.
  • Experience or a strong foundation in structured, evidence-based reading instruction is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
