Requirements:

To be seriously considered for this role, you'll need to have:

  • Education: Master's Degree from an approved program of Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years experience clinical training with a variety of client populations.
  • Licenses/Certification: Must hold a valid Certificate of Clinical Competence outlined by ASHA. Maintenance of CPR or BLS
  • Skills -
  • Ability to take proper history and use evaluation methods in accordance with established guidelines
  • Documents prognosis, as well as predicted optimal level of improvement in function and amount of time needed to reach that level.
  • Develop a treatment program in collaboration with patient/care giver as appropriate.
  • Must be comfortable taking care of pediatric, adolescent as well as adult and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities:

As the Speech Pathologist at Gunnison Valley Health, you will be evaluating and treating patients utilizing the parameters established by the American Speech and Hearing Association. This is a physically, emotionally and mentally challenging job. You'll utilize your unique skills and ideas by:

  • Designing individualized treatment programs appropriate to achieving short and long-term goals, in collaboration with the patient or the patient's caregiver.
  • Demonstrating awareness of the patient's status by making program changes in response to changes in the patient or his environment.
  • Performing adult and geriatric dysphagia evaluations appropriately according to the ASHA practice standards.
  • Documenting prognosis including predicted optimal level of improvement in function. Short-term goals are clear, measurable, functional, and time specific. Long-term goals are clear, measurable, functional, and time specific.

Compensation: $39.25/hr - $50.00/hr, depending on experience.

Physical Requirements

Occasionally (0-33%) - Reclining, reaching, reach across midline, crouching/squatting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, jumping, stairs, ramp, lifting/lowering (25-50 lbs), carrying (25 - 50 lbs), pushing/pulling (25-50 lbs)

Frequently (34 - 66%) - Standing, walking, sitting, change position, handling, fingering, feeling.

Continuously (37 -100%) See with corrective eyewear, hear clearly with assistance

Shift- Day

Schedule- 30 hours weekly, flexible scheduling, opportunity to increase to 40 hours weekly when volumes support
