Job Description
Position Summary:
The Sports Court Crew Leader is responsible for leading a crew in the preparation, installation, resurfacing, and finishing of athletic courts. This includes overseeing the quality of work, ensuring safety compliance, managing materials, and serving as the on-site point of contact for both the company and the client. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, hands-on experience in sports surfacing, and the ability to manage project timelines and crew productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of installers to complete court projects on time and to specification
- Prepare surfaces for coating through cleaning, patching, grinding, and leveling
- Apply surface coatings, color systems, and game lines using industry-standard tools and techniques
- Interpret blueprints, court layouts, and client specs to ensure accuracy
- Ensure safety protocols are followed by all crew members
- Manage on-site materials, tools, and inventory
- Coordinate daily work schedules, assign tasks, and track progress
- Perform quality control checks and final inspections
- Communicate with general contractors, and internal project managers
- Train new crew members on techniques, tools, and safety
- Complete daily reports, maps and incident logs as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in sport court or specialty surface installation
- 1+ year of experience in a crew lead, foreman, or supervisory role
- Working knowledge of acrylic coatings, court surfacing materials, and striping layouts
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and sport regulation specs
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Willingness to travel to job sites, including overnight stays
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in outdoor conditions, and perform manual labor for extended periods
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Familiarity with brands
- OSHA 30 certification
- Basic knowledge of concrete, asphalt, or sub-base preparation
- Experience using laser levels, striping machines, sprayers, and walk-behind grinders
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor environments, including hot, cold, or humid conditions
- Fast-paced and physically demanding work
- Occasional weekend or extended shifts based on project needs
