Job Description

WORK SCHEDULE: Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote)

Honeywell Aerospace is looking for a Sr Advanced Systems Engineer to help develop the next generation of inertial navigation systems that drive innovation, safety, and efficiency across the aerospace industry. Working alongside a highly skilled, multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the design, integration, testing, and qualification of new products, supporting development from early concept and prototyping through production and deployment.

In this role, you will work under limited supervision and collaborate closely with systems, electrical, mechanical, materials, software, and manufacturing engineers to solve complex technical challenges and deliver innovative solutions that meet evolving customer and business needs. Leveraging a broad engineering background spanning mechanical systems, computer-based technologies, and system integration, you will contribute technical expertise across the product development lifecycle while supporting critical aerospace programs and helping bring advanced navigation technologies to market.

  • Perform numerical evaluation of product design, integration, and qualification activities for inertial navigation products.
  • Perform calibration and performance evaluation of inertial sensors and systems.
  • Analyze sensor and system performance data, including Root Allan Variance (RAV).
  • Perform simulations and numerical data analysis and evaluate results against technical and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to trade studies, FMEA, root-cause analysis, and technical issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for review with senior technical staff.
  • Communicate technical status, findings, and recommendations to engineering stakeholders and customers.
  • Participate in system and design reviews, including SRR, PDR, TRR, CDR, FCA/PCA, and technical interchange meetings.
  • Analyze customer flow-down requirements and contribute to feasibility assessments and technical solution development.
  • Develop and update system engineering documentation, including system-level requirements, Interface Control Documents, Hardware Requirements Specifications, verification plans and procedures, and certification documentation.
  • Contribute to proposal activities, including development of Basis of Estimates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support product development, integration, verification, and qualification.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to less-experienced team members as appropriate.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant systems engineering.
  • Experience with systems integration, implementation, verification testing, and/or troubleshooting.
  • 2+ years of experience working with complex aerospace, navigation, sensor, electromechanical, or related engineering systems.
  • Experience performing engineering data analysis and evaluating technical results.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

WE VALUE

  • Master's degree or advanced technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with inertial sensors, IMUs, inertial navigation systems, or related navigation and sensing technologies.
  • Experience with test-system integration for high-precision inertial sensors or IMUs.
  • Experience with inertial sensor/IMU requirements and associated qualification procedures.
  • Experience with numerical data analysis, regression, and curve fitting.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Creo, SolidWorks, and/or MathCAD.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience supporting complex system integration projects.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices across the product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to engineering stakeholders and customers.

The annual base salary range for this position is $133,000 - $167,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
