Job Description

About Auris

Auris is the payroll and HR partner built for small and medium-sized businesses who can't afford to get it wrong. Trusted by over 50,000 businesses nationwide, Auris pairs easy-to-use technology with real human services to give leaders the confidence that every detail is done right - so they can focus on growing their team and their business. Acquired by Acrisure in 2025, Auris formerly Heartland Payroll is accelerating its vision to deliver seamless human-centered technology to help small businesses thrive.

Summary of This Role

Auris is seeking a highly driven, execution-oriented Project Director to lead enterprise-critical initiatives across the organization. This role is designed for a high-performing project leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, drives accountability across cross-functional teams, and consistently delivers complex strategic initiatives with urgency and precision.

The Project Director will own the planning, governance, execution, and communication of high-impact programs that support growth, operational excellence, technology transformation, and post-acquisition integration priorities. This leader must be equally comfortable operating in executive settings and working hands-on with teams to remove barriers and accelerate results.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong executive presence, disciplined operating rhythms, and the ability to lead through influence across Finance, HR, Sales, Operations, Product, Technology, and external partners.

Enterprise Program Leadership

  • Lead multiple concurrent, enterprise-level projects and programs with clear ownership from initiation through implementation.

  • Drive successful execution of strategic priorities including technology launches, operational transformation, process redesign, integrations, and organizational change initiatives.

  • Translate executive priorities into actionable roadmaps, milestones, owners, timelines, and measurable outcomes.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Accountability

  • Serve as the central point of coordination across Finance, HR, Technology, Product, Sales, Operations, and vendor partners.

  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholders with competing priorities while maintaining momentum and focus on outcomes.

  • Hold teams accountable to commitments, deadlines, deliverables, and decision timelines.

  • Escalate obstacles quickly with solution-oriented recommendations.

Executive Governance & Weekly Reporting

  • Establish strong governance models for assigned programs, including steering committees, weekly operating reviews, status cadences, and executive updates.

  • Deliver concise, high-quality weekly reporting inclusive of accomplishments, upcoming milestones, risks, issues, decisions needed, and KPI progress.

  • Maintain executive-ready dashboards, scorecards, RAID logs, dependency maps, and decision trackers.

  • Prepare materials and presentations for senior leadership, PMO reviews, and executive business updates.

Project Delivery Excellence

  • Build detailed project plans with clear sequencing, ownership, milestones, and interdependencies.

  • Ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business case objectives.

  • Anticipate slippage or execution risk early and implement recovery plans quickly.

  • Drive disciplined follow-through and strong closeout processes including lessons learned and value realization.

Change Management & Communication

  • Lead enterprise change efforts tied to systems, structure, processes, and ways of working.

  • Develop communication plans that ensure stakeholders understand the "why," timing, impact, and expectations.

  • Support adoption through training coordination, leader enablement, and reinforcement plans.

What Are We Looking for in this Role?

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, or related field; PMP, CAPM, or equivalent certification preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience managing complex, cross-functional projects (ideally in fintech, payroll, HR tech, or SaaS).

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).

What are our Desired Skills and Capabilities?

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience in carve-out, integration, or transformation projects strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana, Jira, Lucidchart, MS Project, Confluence).

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation and performance incentives.

  • Comprehensive benefits package.

  • Collaborative, mission-driven culture with high visibility and impact.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
