About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Research Consultant / Business Process Mapping Specialist to lead and support a comprehensive initiative to document and analyze court data–related business processes within judicial or other complex case‑management environments. This role focuses on understanding how operational practices impact data quality, consistency, reporting, and translating those findings into clear, actionable process maps and documentation.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience working with courts or large public-sector systems, and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders ranging from clerks, administrators, judges, researchers, and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mapping of data‑related business processes across multi‑jurisdictional or enterprise case management environments
  • Analyze how case data is captured, updated, and flows across the full lifecycle (e.g., initiation, status changes, dispositions, reporting)
  • Design and facilitate stakeholder engagement activities, including interviews, focus groups, surveys, and facilitated discussions
  • Review and synthesize existing documentation such as manuals, reference guides, policies, and process descriptions
  • Develop clear, presentation‑ready process maps, swimlane diagrams, and data flow visualizations
  • Identify variations, gaps, and opportunities that impact data quality, consistency, governance, and decision‑making
  • Document findings in structured inventories and reports suitable for executive, technical, and operational audiences
  • Collaborate closely with a Project Manager and client stakeholders to validate findings and refine deliverables
  • Communicate complex operational and data concepts clearly in both written and verbal formats

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience performing business process mapping in judicial systems or other complex case‑management environments
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data‑related workflows, information handoffs, and operational practices
  • Strong background in qualitative research methods, including interviews, focus groups, and surveys
  • Proven ability to translate operational practices into structured documentation and visual process models
  • Experience working with public-sector, court, or highly regulated environments
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience working with court operations, clerks' offices, judicial workflows, or justice information systems
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and reporting standards
  • Familiarity with enterprise or statewide systems supporting case management
  • Experience conducting statewide or multi‑site assessments
  • Skilled at engaging diverse stakeholders and supporting change‑management efforts
  • Proficiency with process mapping tools and documentation platforms
