Job Description

OUR FIRM: A law firm in Uptown Dallas is seeking a Sr. IP Litigation Paralegal. POSITION SUMMARY: The Sr. IP Litigation Paralegal is a high-level, fully case-responsible support staff position. The Sr. IP Litigation Paralegals are responsible for managing all aspects of multiple large- scale complex litigation matters simultaneously, including docket and calendar management, deposition organization and preparation, large scale document productions, privilege logs and court filings, as well as hearing and trial preparation and attendance. Extensive hours and travel required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience focusing on complex IP litigation cases, including managing large-scale e-discovery, creating and managing databases and imaging systems, supervising support staff teams, preparing for trial, and providing exceptional in-courtroom hearing and trial support. Must have high-level experience with a range of litigation support applications. Additional qualifications include excellent analytical and organizational abilities, solid communication and management skills, creativity, initiative and ability to work in a team environment. Flexibility to accommodate for travel and overtime is required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage case docket/calendaring from inception to resolution: Responsible for calculating and calendaring deadlines, maintaining case calendars per docket control orders.
  • Manage case files: Compile, organize and maintain up to date and accessible electronic case files in accordance with established firm protocols.
  • Coordinate preparation, filing and service of legal documents: Prepare templates for attorney drafting; Analyze documents and materials; Research Federal and Local rules of procedure for relevant court venues; Draft routine filings (e.g. attorney appearances, notices of filings, notices of motions); Check legal cites for proper format, content and standing (Westlaw, Blue Book); Research and check fact cites for proper format, content and accuracy (Blue Book); Compile appendices and exhibits; Manage service of process; Coordinate with local counsel; File with court and/or serve on parties and/or opposing counsel.  
  • Manage document production processes: Assist with collection of materials from client, opposing parties, and third parties (hard copies, electronic data, physical evidence); Prepare and maintain privilege logs; Manage logistics of production of documents - hard copy, images, native; Interact with outside entities (clients, government agencies, expert witnesses, consultants, other law firms, court personnel, etc.); Collaborate with outside Litigation Support vendors to design and manage e-discovery databases.  
  • Coordinate depositions: Manage all aspects of deposition preparations and logistics, ie. court reporters, interpreters, videographers, conference space and/or video conferencing services.
  • Manage trial and hearing preparation and support: Compile, organize and manage trial exhibits; Prepare and track pretrial documents and disclosures; Manage deposition, hearing and trial transcripts; Coordinate with local counsel and court staff as needed. In-Person Attendance at Hearings, On- Location Pre-Trial Prep and Trial Attendance is Mandatory
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • ABA Paralegal Certificate required.
  • 5 years’ successful experience as a case-responsible Litigation Paralegal in a complex IP Litigation environment is required, IPR experience is preferred.
  • Commitment to work overtime (in person and remote) and travel as needed, which maybe be extensive, and may include weekends or holidays, extended periods of time and on short notice.
