JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Safety and Health, is responsible for leading the organization’s occupational safety and health strategy to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace across all operations. This role provides strategic direction, oversight, and technical expertise to reduce risk, prevent injuries and illnesses, and foster a strong safety culture aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety & Health Leadership

· Develop, implement, and continuously improve the corporate safety and health management system

· Establish company-wide safety policies, standards, and procedures

· Serve as the subject matter expert on occupational safety and health matters

· Advise executive leadership on safety performance, risks, and improvement opportunities

Compliance & Risk Management

· Ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations (e.g., OSHA and other regional requirements)

· Monitor regulatory changes and assess impacts on the organization

· Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and safety audits across all locations

· Oversee incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

· Track, analyze, and report safety and health performance metrics (e.g., TRIR, LTIR, DART and severity rates)

· Prepare internal dashboards and external reports as required

· Establish leading and lagging indicators to drive proactive risk reduction

Operational Support

· Partner with operations, HR, engineering, and facilities teams to integrate safety into daily operations and projects

· Support safe design and management of change for new equipment, processes, and facilities

· Promote ergonomics, industrial hygiene, contractor safety, and occupational health programs

Training & Culture

· Develop and oversee safety and health training programs for employees, leaders, and contractors

· Coach leaders and site safety teams to strengthen accountability and engagement

· Lead safety culture initiatives and employee involvement programs

Emergency Preparedness & Health Programs

· Oversee emergency response planning and business continuity from a safety perspective

· Manage occupational health programs, including medical surveillance, return-to-work, and wellness initiatives

· Coordinate with medical providers, insurers, and workers’ compensation administrators

Budget & Resource Management

· Develop and manage the corporate safety and health budget

· Select and manage external consultants, auditors, and service providers

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field

Experience

· 8–12+ years of progressive experience in occupational safety and health

· Experience managing safety programs in a corporate or multi-site environment

· Demonstrated experience influencing senior leadership and driving cultural change

Skills & Competencies

· Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills

· Excellent communication, presentation, and coaching abilities

· Deep knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations and best practices

· Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams

Working Conditions

· Office-based with frequent travel to operational sites

· Exposure to manufacturing, construction, laboratory, or field environments depending on business operations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

· Master’s degree preferred

· CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or equivalent strongly preferred
