Job Description

Pay Range: $107,610 - $135,682 annual compensation

Job Posting Closing on: Monday, March 23, 2026

Sign on Incentive Verbiage: $9,000 sign on incentive 50% paid after the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after the completion of 6 months of employment.

Workdays & Hours: Monday- Friday 8am- 5pm; Remote work may be available after one year of service.

We are seeking a Sr. Professional Engineer- Water Modeler to develop and maintain hydraulic and hydrologic models supporting planning, operations, and capital improvement decisions for our water/wastewater systems.

About the Role:

As a Sr. Professional Engineer- Water Modeler you'll play a critical role in planning and growing out the city's water infrastructure. Your work will ensure Fort Worth remains sustainable, efficient, and future-ready by being our strategic navigator to help us predict problems before they happen and guide the utility in making smart decisions.

Projects our team has contributed to in the past include:

  • Water Master Plan
  • Wastewater Master Plan
  • Impact Fee Study

What We're Looking For:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field
  • Three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience as a registered professional engineer of which two years must be within or related to the area of assigned responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with water/sewer modeling software (InfoWater, WaterGEMS, or EPANET)
  • Six (6) years in design, development or operation of water/wastewater systems

The Sr. Professional Engineer- Water Modeler job responsibilities include:

  • Shape the future of our community's water systems by evaluating developer studies and ensuring our water and sewer capacity keeps pace with growth
  • Leverage cutting-edge modeling tools (InfoWater, WaterGEMS, EPANET) to plan for expansion and optimize system performance
  • Drive big-picture planning through wholesale capacity analysis and long-term infrastructure strategies
  • Solve real-world challenges by troubleshooting complex issues using SCADA data and flow meter insights to calibrate and validate models
  • Work as a connector across departments, collaborating to deliver smart, sustainable, and resilient water solutions
  • Make an impact on major projects by supporting Capital Delivery, Master Planning, and Impact Fee studies. Help decide pipe sizes, pump capacity, storage needs, treatment plant expansions, and capital improvement priorities
  • Prepare technical summaries and present findings to engineers, operations staff, and leadership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by providing expert technical guidance to both internal teams and external partners
