Summary:

Under the supervision of the Chief of Social Enterprises & Development, the Sr Director of Development is responsible for advancing the agency's unrestricted revenue goals through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major, and high-capacity donors. This role serves as a senior, externally focused fundraiser who builds and manages a portfolio of individual, corporate, and community stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on relationship-based fundraising, leadership giving, and long-term philanthropic investment.

  • In partnership with the Chief of Social Enterprises & Development, leads and executes a comprehensive major giving strategy aligned with agency strategic and financial goals.
  • Manages a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, with responsibility for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts typically exceeding $1,000, including multi-year and leadership commitments.
  • Annual revenue goal is typically $300,000-$500,000 with first year expectation of generating new revenue of $100,000+ from currently non-existing Ibero donors.
  • Develops and implements individualized donor engagement strategies, including personalized outreach, meetings, impact reporting, and tailored solicitations.
  • Serves as a key relationship manager for leadership donors, advisory donors, and select corporate and community partners.
  • Supports the growth and sustainability of leadership giving initiatives, donor circles, and long-term philanthropic investments, including endowment and legacy-oriented conversations in collaboration with the Chief.
  • Aspires to further Ibero's Development strategies by growing into leading the Alma de Ibero Foundation, Inc.
  • Actively participates in donor meetings, cultivation events, site visits, and stewardship opportunities, frequently representing the agency externally.
  • Collaborates closely with the Marketing Coordinator and Specialist Events Coordinator to ensure seamless coordination between donor strategy, events, acknowledgements, and stewardship efforts.
  • Works in partnership with Admin Assistant and the Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure accurate documentation of donor interactions, moves management, and pipeline tracking within the donor management system.
  • Assists in the strategic engagement and support of the Board Fundraising Committee and fundraising volunteers, including preparation of donor strategies, briefings, and follow-up actions.
  • Provides strategic input into annual fundraising goals, revenue projections, and performance tracking related to individual and leadership giving.
  • Collaborates with marketing and communications staff to ensure donor-facing messaging supports cultivation and stewardship objectives, without direct responsibility for marketing production.
  • Supports executive leadership in preparation for donor solicitations, briefings, and high-level stewardship communications as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with division directors, executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.
  • Supervises the Marketing Supervisor.
  • Lead weekly team work sessions with Marketing and Development Department.
  • Attends regular Operational Leadership Team's trainings and collaborations.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Chief of Social Enterprises & Development.

Authority:

This position exercises a high degree of independence and professional judgment within the framework of agency policies and strategic objectives. The Senior Development Manager is expected to proactively manage donor relationships, identify opportunities for increased philanthropic investment, and communicate emerging opportunities or concerns to the immediate supervisor. This role requires discretion, initiative, and a strong understanding of relationship-based fundraising practices.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required; advanced coursework or certification in nonprofit management, fundraising, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive nonprofit development experience, with demonstrated success in major gifts, leadership giving, or relationship-based fundraising. Experience managing a donor portfolio and closing multi-year or leadership-level gifts strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple donor relationships simultaneously. Comfortable working collaboratively across departments and with executive leadership. Politically savvy, self-directed, and results-oriented.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO.

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 10 lbs. And frequent sitting.
