Job Description

SHIFT: 3rd Shift - 10:00PM to 6:00AM

TITLE: Sr. Press Technician

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The person in this role reports to the Production Manager. The position is responsible for the beginning set-up and/or automation process for production, with emphasis on measures to increase productivity, efficiency and utilization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 3 years of experience operating flexographic printing presses.Strong technical proficiency in press set-up, operation, and maintenance.Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a SQF qualified facility.Experience working with a variety of substrates, inks, and printing techniques.Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Always adhere to safety guidelines and protocols. Be proactive in addressing and reporting safety issues/concerns.Check Press specifications for ink, cores, film, plate cylinders, anilox, etc., to ensure all resources are needed and ready for current and upcoming jobs.Set up, operate, and maintain flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials.Maintain good and consistent quality print from start to finish.Identify defects and make all necessary adjustments to ensure product remains within specifications.Verify and maintain ink parameters (viscosity, match PMS, etc.)Ensure waste materials are discarded to their designated containers.Get all cores for job, install first core in wind adjust viscosity, add solvent as necessary.May be required to perform other duties within the plant as requested or assigned based on production needs.Attend site safety or job trainings classes as required.Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production schedules and ensure timely delivery of printed materials.Train press operator assistants while adhering to safety protocols and best practices.This position may require working weekends and holidays to meet production demandsFlexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed is required.Flexibility to work 12 hours rotating shifts.Maintain a clean work area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

Willing to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.Must perform work efficiently and effectively under short notice.Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.Will lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.Must wear personal protective equipment as required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, arm guards).

OTHER INFORMATION:

Thorough understanding of SQF requirements and quality control processes.Proven ability to troubleshoot press malfunctions and perform repairs in a timely manner.Knowledge of color management and quality assurance processes.Aim to maximize production performance and output while maintaining quality.Experience in SQF and/or ISO is an asset.

TRAINING:

Ensure GMP are exerted throughout the production process.Ensure production process follows SQF Code.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:

Experience driving a forklift truck preferred.Basic computer and calculator knowledge.
