Legend Biotech is seeking a Sr. Manager, Supply Chain Planning as part of the Manufacturing & Supply team based in Raritan, NJ. 

Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Planning & MRP will lead the Raritan CAR-T site Materials Planning and MRP function in support of commercial CAR-T manufacturing. This position is accountable for the creation, execution, and continuous improvement of the site Supply Plan and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing execution and patient supply.

This role serves as the site leader for material planning and inventory management activities and is responsible for translating demand, production schedules, inventory strategies, and supplier commitments into executable material and inventory plans that support current manufacturing requirements and future site growth.

The individual will partner closely with Capacity Planning, Production Scheduling, Manufacturing Operations, Warehouse & Logistics, Procurement, Quality, MS&T, Finance, and Enterprise Supply Chain teams to proactively identify and mitigate supply risks, maintain inventory health, and ensure material readiness across short-, medium-, and long-term planning horizons.

The position will lead a team of MRP planners and inventory professionals while driving planning excellence through standardized processes, KPI management, SAP S/4HANA optimization, inventory governance, digital planning adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Success in this role requires strong technical supply chain expertise, advanced analytical capabilities, the ability to lead through influence, and the potential to develop into a strong people leader within a highly regulated cell and gene therapy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process supporting CAR-T manufacturing operations at the Raritan site.
  • Lead creation, execution, and governance of material supply plans ensuring alignment to manufacturing demand, inventory strategy, and capacity plans.
  • Own inventory management strategy and execution for planning-controlled materials, including coverage analysis, safety stock, inventory targets, shelf-life risk, scrap/obsolescence risk, and inventory health governance.
  • Establish and maintain planning master data including planning parameters, lead-times, lot sizing, safety stock strategies, reorder points, and inventory policies.
  • Drive accurate material coverage analysis and proactively identify future supply constraints, shortages, inventory exposure, and material readiness risks.
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert (SME) for SAP S/4HANA planning processes and associated planning systems.
  • Lead the Site Critical Materials Review process including supply risk identification, escalation, mitigation planning, and executive communication.
  • Establish proactive inventory and supplier risk monitoring processes to minimize manufacturing disruptions and support uninterrupted patient supply.
  • Partner with Procurement, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Quality organizations to resolve supply disruptions and drive root-cause elimination.
  • Develop contingency plans and alternative supply strategies for critical materials and suppliers.
  • Support Anaplan implementation, process design, adoption, governance, and sustainability as a planning business lead or key process SME.
  • Drive continuous improvement of SAP S/4HANA planning capabilities, master data governance, reporting tools, and system utilization.
  • Partner with enterprise planning, digital, and business systems teams to improve data visibility and planning performance.
  • Support development and deployment of planning dashboards and KPI reporting utilizing SAP, Anaplan, Power BI, and related tools.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and manage a team of MRP Planners and Inventory Management Specialists supporting CART manufacturing operations.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, succession plans, cross-training strategies, and standard work processes to ensure organizational effectiveness and business continuity.
  • Build a high-performing, engaged planning organization capable of supporting continued site growth, increasing manufacturing volumes, and future-state operational requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong technical leadership and coaching mindset; prior people-leadership experience is preferred but not required.
  • Represent Site Supply Chain Planning in Vein-to-Vein, Site Supply Chain, Capacity Review, CRR/S&OP, Operational Readiness, and Enterprise Planning governance forums.
  • Provide planning recommendations, risk assessments, inventory insights, and scenario analyses to support operational and executive decision making.
  • Develop and maintain inventory strategies that balance supply assurance, inventory investment, shelf-life constraints, and manufacturing flexibility.
  • Drive inventory optimization initiatives while minimizing scrap, obsolescence, expired inventory, and stockouts.
  • Own inventory health metrics and ensure adherence to approved inventory targets,
  • Own planning and inventory performance management through development and maintenance of KPIs including Material Availability, OTIF, Inventory Health, Inventory Turns, Safety Stock Compliance, Material Shortages, MRP Exceptions, Supplier Performance, Planning Parameter Accuracy, Scrap and Obsolescence.
  • Utilize KPI trends to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead or support investigations, root cause analyses, CAPAs, and corrective actions related to supply disruptions, inventory discrepancies, planning failures, and material shortages.
  • Ensure planning and inventory processes remain compliant with applicable GMP, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
  • Own and continuously improve planning- and inventory-related SOPs, work instructions, training curricula, change controls, and planning governance processes.
  • Interpret, analyze, and translate demand into supply requirements, ensuring material requirements are delivered within supplier lead times and in alignment with OTIF expectations.
  • Lead the monthly supply planning cycle, including creation and updating of supply plans and identification of key supply decisions with relevant stakeholders covering both material and capacity.
  • Monitor execution of daily MRP activities in alignment with the published manufacturing plan and facilitate ERP troubleshooting related to purchase orders, process orders, code conversions, and stock transfers.
  • Collaborate with Quality, QC, Incoming QA, and Warehouse teams to prioritize incoming inspection, release, and availability of raw materials and components.
  • Support Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and operational audits as the planning and inventory process owner or supply chain SME.
  • Provide timely responses to business unit representatives, internal stakeholders, and supplier inquiries.
  • Establish strong working relationships with site, enterprise, and external stakeholders including Manufacturing Operations, Production Scheduling, Warehouse & Logistics, Procurement, Supplier Quality, QA/QC, MS&T, Finance, Enterprise Supply Chain, Digital/Business Systems Teams, and external suppliers.
  • Ability to effectively influence and communicate with stakeholders ranging from operational personnel through executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, Life Sciences, or related field required. Advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Supply Chain, Materials Planning, MRP, Manufacturing Planning, Inventory Management, Procurement Planning, or related disciplines.
  • Experience working within GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting complex manufacturing operations with significant supply chain interdependencies.
  • Strong SAP S/4HANA or equivalent ERP/MRP experience, including material master / planning parameter maintenance, MRP exception management, purchase requisition / purchase order flow, process order support, stock transfer processes, and inventory planning analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead planning and inventory processes and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes including procurement, inventory management, production planning, warehouse operations, quality systems, and supplier management.
  • Advanced analytical skills including scenario modeling, supply risk analysis, inventory optimization, and data-driven decision making.
  • Strong SAP S/4HANA planning knowledge including MRP execution, planning parameters, material master governance, purchase requisitions, process orders, and inventory transactions.
  • Proven ability to influence across matrix organizations and drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Strong presentation and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to balance tactical operational execution with long-term strategic planning.
  • Ability to promote a mindset of continuous improvement, problem solving, and prevention.

Technologically savvy with the ability to quickly adopt new systems and processes. Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and planning/reporting tools.

  • Language: English

Preferred

  • Cell & Gene Therapy, CAR-T, Biologics, or Personalized Medicine manufacturing experience.
  • People-leadership experience preferred; strong technical leadership, coaching mindset, and demonstrated potential to develop into a people leader will be considered.
  • Experience with Anaplan, SAP APO, SAP IBP, OMP, Kinaxis, or related planning platforms.
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience supporting audits, change controls, deviations, CAPAs, SOPs, and planning-related GMP documentation.

The base pay range below is what Legend Biotech USA Inc. reasonably expects to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location. $146,410—$192,164 USD
