Position Overview:

The Sr. Electrical Specialist provides technical support, operation/maintenance assurance, and technical assurance for the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Power System to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation and maintenance for Production.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Production and Maintenance teams by providing troubleshooting assistance on T&D electrical equipment.
  • Act as operational site focal point for T&D systems.
  • Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance analysis and establish alarms and limits for equipment through Ensure Safe Production work process.
  • Assist in scope preparation for Turnaround repairs, PMs, and testing for major electrical equipment.
  • Identify and manage mitigation strategy for threats to reliability.
  • Perform Management of Change reviews to ensure safe operation and design of equipment and related changes including PSSR sign of for the T&D system.
  • Ensure new projects integrate reliably with existing T&D system.
  • Maintain T&D system drawings.
  • Write, review, execute, and manage communication for site switching orders.
  • Participate in Incident Command Duty as scheduled.
  • Respond to unplanned T&D power outages.
  • Act as primary point of contact with the Electric Utility Provider.

Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • 10+ years of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) substation and powerline experience
  • Knowledge of T&D power system equipment up to 230kV
  • Experience with T&D switching and outage planning
  • Knowledge of T&D project, construction, and maintenance best practices
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • T&D operational experience in a refining or petrochemical facility
  • Experience with Transformer oil dissolved gas analysis
  • Experience with SKM Power System modeling software

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection)
