Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Safety Professional. This role involves partnering with contractors to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards and practices, including trenching, scaffolding, fall protection, electrical, cranes, and heavy equipment. You will be responsible for investigating and proposing innovative safety solutions, ensuring risk mitigation, and maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will articulate applicable standards, regulations, data, emerging technologies, best practices, and risk reduction techniques to project leadership and contractors. You will provide construction safety risk input during all project phases and effectively communicate identified trends, significant near misses, and incidents with project and safety leadership.
Responsibilities
- Partner with contractors to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards.
- Investigate and propose innovative safety solutions while ensuring risk mitigation and regulatory compliance.
- Articulate standards, regulations, data, emerging technologies, best practices, and risk reduction techniques to leadership and contractors.
- Provide safety risk input during all project phases.
- Communicate identified trends, significant near misses, and incidents with project and safety leadership.
Basic Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in construction safety, industrial safety and health, safety engineering, or related fields.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards and best practices.
- Self-driven and resourceful with the ability to solve problems outside areas of expertise.
- Experience in the safety of multi-trade construction activities and construction safety industry/regulatory standards.
- Flexibility and ability to operate within an ambiguous and changing environment.
- Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and diffuse difficult situations.
- Strong consultative and influencing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
- OSHA 30 Construction required - OSHA 500 trainer certification preferred
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Construction Safety, Engineering, Architecture, or related fields.
- Advanced degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Construction Safety, Engineering, Architecture, or related fields is a plus.
Additional Information
The interview process includes one panel interview (45 minutes) via Microsoft Teams. There is a high potential to extend the assignment. A Certificate of Insurance (COI) will be required at the time of offer. The worker may be required to use their personal vehicle onsite and must maintain applicable liability insurance coverage through their employer of record.
