Job Description
Job Overview:B&H is looking for Photography Content Writers to craft product descriptions, research products, and update the B&H website with new and accurate product information for photography and photography-adjacent products and categories.
Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic about the current state of photography, video, and technology in general, specifically relating to the latest gear, industry trends, and unique accessories. Candidates should have a working knowledge of various photography genres, camera systems, and familiarity with how different types of gear can be matched to different levels of photographers.
A Content Writer will ideally have specific knowledge and insight on a broad range of topics:
Comparisons between brand offeringsWhat photographers look for when selecting lenses and accessoriesOpinions on what makes the best camera bagA favorite focal length and allegiance to a side in the prime vs zoom debateA fondness for digital but a preference for film
Focuses on high-profile items, major announcements, and helps lead category style decisions and discussions on changing standards and updates for product subcategories. They will also work on more advanced creative content, including landing pages, rich content descriptions, and cross-category writeups with minimal supervision.
All Photography Content Writers should have past photography or industry-related experience to form an inherent knowledge base for talking about gear. Successful writers will know the differences between full-frame and APS-C, along with how to setup wireless flash systems, how to select a tripod head for bird photography, which lens to use for fashion photography, and input on the best bags for travel shooting.
B&H is looking for candidates who are excited about photography, have a strong working knowledge and unfettered curiosity, and would like to share information on gear and process with others.
Essential Responsibilities:
Writes material which conforms to current B&H style and standardsOrganizes and prioritizes assigned products based on internal guidelinesResponds to update requests to correct or modify product descriptionsStays informed on current market trends and technologiesAble to research and quickly learn about new products
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
In-depth knowledge of photography and related industry practicesStrong writing skillsProficient in Microsoft OfficeDetail oriented and strong organizational skills
Preferred Education, Experience, and Licenses:
Minimum 4+ years creating original written content in relevant categories and/or working in a related field
