Job Summary
The Senior Director, Program Management is accountable for delivering strategic business outcomes across a portfolio of enterprise transformation initiatives, providing unified leadership over Program Managers and Product Owners to ensure work is prioritized, sequenced, and executed to maximize enterprise value.
This role serves as the owner of portfolio strategy, outcomes, and trade‑offs, translating enterprise objectives into integrated programs and product roadmaps. The Senior Director partners closely with executive stakeholders and the PMO to ensure the organization is focused on the right initiatives, in the right order, with clear accountability for results. Success in this role requires strong business judgment, the ability to lead through influence, and experience operating at the intersection of strategy, execution, and product delivery
Role Description
Lead and manage a team of Program Managers, providing direction, coaching, and performance oversight to ensure consistent execution of complex, long‑running enterprise programs and the development of strong program leadership capability across the organization.
Ensure strong alignment between product roadmaps and program delivery plans, enabling coordinated execution across initiatives
Drive collaboration between Program Managers, Product Owners, and functional leaders to deliver integrated outcomes
Coach leaders on outcome-based planning and execution, shifting focus from activity tracking to value delivery
Lead, develop, and mentor Program Managers and Product Owners, establishing clear expectations for accountability and performance
Build leadership capability across the organization by empowering teams to execute while maintaining clear ownership of outcomes
Establish a high-performance culture centered on transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement
Act as a trusted partner to senior leadership on portfolio decisions, tradeoffs, and investment choices
Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes at an executive level, enabling informed decision-making
Resolve conflicts related to scope, priority, and resource allocation across initiatives
Partner closely with the PMO to align strategy, governance, and execution discipline
Ensure programs and products operate within established governance frameworks while maintaining outcome ownership
Leverage PMO insights (capacity, risk, dependencies, portfolio health) to inform prioritization and sequencing decisions

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
10+ years of progressive program and/or project management experience, including leadership of complex, enterprise‑wide initiatives
Demonstrated experience leading large, cross‑functional program and/or product portfolios
Strong expertise in program management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models
Proven success engaging senior stakeholders and leading through influence in matrixed environments
Qualifications:
Extensive experience leading enterprise transformation initiatives and managing large, complex programs
Strong business acumen with the ability to translate strategy into executable portfolios and roadmaps
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Strong strategic planning, analytical, and problem‑solving capabilities
Proficiency with program and portfolio management tools and reporting platforms
Results‑driven, adaptable, and skilled at managing competing priorities in dynamic environments
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent)
Experience working within organizations with formal PMO structures
Experience leading both program and product disciplines
Background in digital transformation, operating‑model change, or large‑scale enterprise initiatives
PMP, PgMP, PMI, or equivalent certification
Proven experience leading major IT implementations such as ERP, cloud migrations, core systems modernization, or enterprise platform transformations.
The estimated annual pay range for this position is $180,000 - $230,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
