This role partners closely with Accounting, HR, and Finance and serves as a subject-matter expert for Workday Payroll, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Job Description:
Payroll Operations & Compliance Lead end-to-end payroll processing for 26+ legal entities across multiple statesEnsure accurate and timely processing of hourly, salaried, and off-cycle payrolls Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage, tax, and reporting requirementsAct as the escalation point for complex payroll issues and corrections
Workday Payroll & Systems Leadership Manage payroll operations within Workday Payroll, including configuration, audits, and testingPartner with HR to ensure data integrity across Workday Payroll, Time & Attendance, and employee records Lead payroll-related system enhancements, upgrades, and automation initiativesPerform regular payroll related audits
Accounting & Financial Partnership Record payroll activity in the general ledger and reconcile payroll-related accountsManage labor cost allocations and support month-end close activities Partner with Accounting on accruals, reconciliations, and wage and salary variance analysisSupport internal and external audits, including payroll and 401(k Benefits & Deductions Oversight Oversee payroll-related benefits processing, Support annual compliance testing and required retirement plan reporting
Leadership & Collaboration Lead, mentor, and develop payroll staff, as applicableProvide high-level customer service to leaders and employees regarding payroll matters Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, HR, Legal, and Operations on policy and regulatory changes
Process Improvement & ControlsEvaluate and streamline payroll processes and internal controls Develop, maintain, and document payroll procedures and best practices
What You Bring/Experience & Expertise7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-entity and multi-state payroll
Strong hands-on experience with Workday Payroll requiredHealthcare industry experience preferred Advanced knowledge of payroll tax, wage and hour laws, and compliance
Technical & Professional SkillsAdvanced Excel skills and experience with general ledger systems Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality
EducationBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Additional Job Description:
The pay range for this position is $70,000-$132,000 + bonus + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
