Job Description

Welcome to the intersection of energy and home services. At NRG, we're driven by our passion to create a smarter, cleaner and more connected future.

Vivint Smart Home, an NRG owned company, is a leading smart home company in the United States, dedicated to redefining the home experience with intelligent products and services. We find purpose in proactively protecting and keeping our customers connected to home, no matter where they are. Join the Smart Home team to create smarter, safer and more sustainable homes.

Position Summary: Sr. Director Product Management AI Experiences

In this vital leadership role, you will serve as the Senior Director of Product Management for AI Experiences, acting as the single-threaded technical product leader responsible for transforming Vivint's smart home hardware into a proactive, intelligent ecosystem. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will serve as the organization's independent strategic engine for software intelligence. You will bridge the gap between complex machine learning architectures and delightful consumer interfaces, defining the experiences that allow the future home to work seamlessly on behalf of our customers-giving back time, keeping them safe, and saving them money.

This role requires a forward-looking product leader with a deep technical understanding of where AI and machine learning are going. You will be responsible for defining a multi-year vision and building "new-to-world" experiences that utilize ambient intelligence, predictive analytics, and computer vision across our entire hardware portfolio. You will lead a team of Technical Product Managers and collaborate with AI data scientists, platform engineers, and hardware architects to turn raw ambient telemetry into deeply personalized, high-value consumer offers.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic AI Vision & 3-Year Roadmap

  • Next-Gen Experience Strategy: Own the definition, multi-year sequencing, and execution of the AI experience roadmap across the entire Vivint and NRG smart home portfolio.
  • Predictive Futures: Develop a comprehensive 3-year product roadmap rooted in a deep technical understanding of emerging AI/ML capabilities, translating future technological vectors into immediate, high-value customer benefits.
  • New-to-World Innovation: Autonomously identify, scope, and validate "white space" opportunities to deploy net-new, disruptive AI experiences that shift the smart home from a reactive state to an ambient, proactive state.

Ecosystem Intelligence & Technical Execution

  • Ecosystem Orchestration: Serve as the strategic thought leader on how disparate hardware endpoints (cameras, panels, sensors) and cloud platforms can leverage unified machine learning models to act as a singular, cohesive system.
  • Technical Deep-Dives: Author high-quality, data-driven narrative documents (PRFAQs, Working-Backwards documents, and 3-Year Operating Plans) to align senior executive leadership (VP+) on high-stakes AI investments, algorithm training requirements, and data privacy policies.
  • Data & AI Mechanisms: Define and scale cross-organizational mechanisms to continuously monitor model performance, customer usage telemetry, and behavioral data to rigorously refine and iterate on shipped experiences.

Leadership, Influence & Team Coaching

  • Team Management: Directly manage, mentor, and scale a lean team of high-performing Technical Product Managers, fostering a deep culture of technical excellence, algorithmic rigor, and extreme customer-centricity.
  • Matrixed Influence: Operate independently to influence, unblock, and align a highly cross-functional, multi-disciplinary organization spanning Data Science, AI/ML Platform Engineering, UX Design Language teams, and Hardware Product lines.
  • Execution Excellence: Translate complex machine learning capabilities into precise, unambiguous product requirement documents (PRDs), ensuring a reliable and ethical path from initial model training to mass-market production deployment.

Required Skills & Functional Dimensions

  • Autonomous AI Strategy: Proven ability to define long-term product frameworks and navigate intense ambiguity independently. You must be comfortable establishing a product path where technical baselines or data sets are completely undefined.
  • AI/ML Product Mastery: Deep technical literacy in applying machine learning approaches to consumer-facing ecosystems. Direct experience productizing capabilities like computer vision, edge-AI processing, natural language processing, or predictive behavioral modeling is required.
  • Ecosystem & Hardware Familiarity: Strong understanding of how software intelligence interacts with physical consumer hardware lifecycles, including ambient wireless frameworks, cloud latency constraints, and local device processing limitations.
  • Stakeholder Influence & Narrative Writing: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Proven track record of presenting complex data science and product concepts clearly to non-technical executive leadership to secure broad organizational alignment.

Required Education & Experience

  • Experience: 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 5+ years dedicated specifically to shipping consumer-facing AI/ML software features, intelligent IoT experiences, or complex data-driven platforms at scale.
  • Technical Partnership Track Record: Demonstrated experience managing products that require close, daily coordination with AI data scientists, machine learning infrastructure engineers, and data privacy teams.
  • Leadership Track Record: 3+ years of experience directly managing and developing technical product professionals, with a proven ability to scale a team's technical capacity.
  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in a Technical Field (Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related discipline); MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.
