Job Description
- Over 4,000 Full-Time Associates across the Supply Chain
- 14.5M square feet of small parcel, personalization, furniture, and manufacturing space in the domestic US, Williams-Sonoma has developed an agile and capable distribution network consisting of the following:
- Large package / furniture distribution centers located in Southern California, Northern California, Texas, Georgia, and New Jersey totaling 9.2M square feet plus another 1.2M square feet of standalone final-mile furniture hubs.
- Small package eCommerce distribution centers located in Mississippi and Arizona totaling 3.2M square feet, consisting of over 1,000 full-time associates and 1,500 seasonal/temporary associates in Mississippi
- Sutter Street Manufacturing upholstery factories located in North Carolina and Mississippi totaling with over 1,400 full-time employees producing approximately $900 million to $1 billion in sales of upholstered furniture
- Transportation Department for Ocean, Air, Trucking, and Rail consisting of over 30 transportation professionals located in Memphis, TN
- 700 associates in our Sourcing offices in 10 countries in Asia and Europe including China, Vietnam, Singapore, India, Italy, and Turkey
- Lead and supervise the engineering team; hire, train, develop, assess and empower staff to achieve the department's goals.
- Leads development of business practices across our domestic warehousing network
- Analyze processes and systems across the supply chain and leverage cross-functional partnerships to drive process improvement
- Providing thought-leadership and innovative ideas to solve supply chain problems
- Create standard operating procedures and labor standards for all warehousing processes, and maintain the engineering configuration for Labor Management platforms where applicable
- Lead capital projects- Gather requirements, create layouts and process flows, manage vendors and budgets, and maintain communication with all stakeholders
- Leads project development and justification including vendor selection, cost-benefit analysis, and ROI estimation
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or similar engineering discipline.
- At least 7-10 years successful experience in engineering roles that support operations.
- This is an onsite and in office role.
- Demonstrated success in the management of people and very strong leadership traits.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating processes and identifying areas for improvement.
- Organization and communication skills – Demonstrable talent with collaboration, presentation, planning, negotiation, and root cause determination.
- Adaptability to changing business requirements and technologies, and strong critical thinking to implement effective solutions.
- Desire for continuous learning and professional development supported with project variety, self-paced learning resources, vendor / technology discovery, seminars, etc.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Programming language knowledge focused on data retrieval and manipulation – SQL, Python.
- Data modeling and visualization software – PowerBI, Qlik, MicroStrategy, Tableau.
- Project management or change management experience.
- Automated material handling equipment and/or robotics.
- Knowledge of AI / LLM usage and model training with application to this role.
- Relevant software and tools such as warehouse management systems (WMS), labor management systems (LMS), warehouse execution systems (WES), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Prior work in distribution centers.
- Able to bend, reach, squat, and climb stairs/ladders.
- Able to walk to any area within the facility (warehouses typically 1M+ square feet)
- Able to stand for stretches of time (2+ hours)
- Willingness to travel (up to 50%)
