Job Description
Our client, a growing and highly respected engineering consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (MEP) to join their Chicago team. This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence, team leadership, and client development.
This position goes beyond traditional engineering design—you will play a key role in building teams, strengthening client relationships, and driving project success across multiple engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical (HVAC) design efforts on a variety of projects
- Develop construction documents, including drawings and specifications
- Support and guide junior MEP engineers and design staff
- Manage projects to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver successful project outcomes
- Participate in site visits and support construction activities as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering ( BSME)
- 10+ years of experience in MEP design/consulting, preferably in the Chicago market
- Proven team leadership and management experience
- Strong project management background in MEP environments
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Deep understanding of HVAC system design and building codes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering license or equivalent experience
- LEED Accreditation
- Experience with IES-VE or similar energy modeling tools
