Job Description

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. was founded in 2018 and has become a leader in autonomous ground transportation committed to a safer and more efficient future for all. The company has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) powered technology stack purpose-built for commercial trucking and the public sector. The company delivers freight daily for its customers across the southern United States using its autonomous technology. In 2024, Kodiak became the first known company to publicly announce delivering a driverless semi-truck to a customer. Kodiak is also leveraging its commercial self-driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.

Kodiak is seeking a highly skilled and intrapreneurial Senior Product Manager to drive the development of our Assisted Autonomy (AA) solution. AA allows a human to remotely control a truck in certain low-speed and clearly-defined scenarios that benefit from human involvement. AA is part of the functionality of Kodiak's autonomous solution, the Kodiak Driver.

This is an Individual Contributor (IC) PM role that requires end-to-end product ownership of Assisted Autonomy at Kodiak. You will be responsible for assessing and tracking the market, listening to customers, analyzing data, and evaluating Kodiak’s capabilities to unify a cross-functional team behind a cohesive product vision and strategy. Because this role involves both software and hardware, it requires a unique blend of technical depth, B2C UX/design sensibility, and rigorous execution.

In this role, you will:

  • Product strategy & vision: Formulate and evolve the roadmap for Assisted Autonomy, balancing near-term deployment milestones with long-term scalability. Assess market trends and evaluate Kodiak's capabilities to unify cross-functional teams behind a clear AA strategy.
  • Data-driven prioritization & KPIs: Establish and monitor KPIs. Use data to improve performance, while prioritizing failure modes and features to improve overall safety.
  • Execution & deployment: Define and prioritize requirements with cross-functional partners. Evaluate releases for acceptance, and partner closely with Ops teams on field deployment, process optimization, and the creation of effective training materials.
  • Hardware & software integration: Drive product improvements across both software interfaces (job dispatch, telestation capabilities) and physical hardware integrations.
  • Stakeholder communication: Act as the central node between Engineering, Operations, Safety, Program, internal leadership, and external customers, providing clear updates on feature development, release management, and market readiness.
  • Travel: Up to 25% travel required to visit Kodiak commercial deployment locations to listen to customers and gather direct operational feedback.

What you’ll bring:

  • 8+ years of product management experience, ideally in environments that blend software and hardware
  • Demonstrated success in defining & launching end-user-facing high-tech products through the full lifecycle to customers at scale
  • Strong B2C UX/design experience, demonstrating an ability to build highly usable interfaces for teleoperations and human-in-the-loop workflows, including for non-technical users
  • Ability to think deeply and communicate clearly about data and KPIs, and how they inform product prioritization
  • Technical degree (master's degree or above in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field) or equivalent practical work experience
  • Prior experience in assisted autonomy, autonomous vehicles (AV), or robotics
  • Startup experience

What we offer:

  • Competitive compensation package including equity and biannual bonuses
  • Excellent Medical, Dental, and Vision plans through Kaiser Permanente, Anthem, and Guardian (including a medical plan with infertility benefits)
  • Flexible PTO and generous parental leave policies
  • Our office is centrally located in Mountain View, CA
  • Office perks: dog-friendly, free catered lunch, a fully stocked kitchen, and free EV charging
  • Long Term Disability, Short Term Disability, Life Insurance
  • Wellbeing Benefits - Headspace, One Medical, Gympass, Spring Health
  • Fidelity 401(k)
  • Commuter, FSA, Dependent Care FSA, HSA
  • Various incentive programs (referral bonuses, patent bonuses, etc.)

The pay range listed below reflects the base salary in our SF/Silicon Valley location, across several internal levels. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors including: work location, experience, relevant training, education, skill level and performance during interview. Total compensation at Kodiak includes base pay, equity, bonus and a competitive benefits package
