WELCOME DESK ATTENDANT - LORIN FARR OUTDOOR POOL

DEPARTMENT: Public Services

DIVISION: Recreation

Rate of pay: $13.00 - $16.00 depending on experience. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Work Schedule:

  • Flexible Part-Time Schedules.
    • Typically, Welcome desk attendants work 5-30 hours per week.
    • Weekday, mornings, afternoon, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts available.

Rate of pay: $13 -16 per hour

  • Wage dependent on prior experience
    • Typically hire at minimum rate. Wage increases can but are not limited to the following
      • Holding combined job titles (e.g., Water Safety Instructor [WSI] certifications).

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of Recreation Aquatics Supervisor II, the Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records for transactions at Ogden City recreational facilities. The Cashier serves as the first point of contact for patrons, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Friendly, approachable demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic physical fitness to perform lifting, bending, and repetitive motions as needed.
  • Greet patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Provide information about facility programs, events, and services.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve concerns in a timely manner.
  • Operate cash registers, credit card machines, and other point-of-sale systems.
  • Accurately process payments for admission, memberships, classes, and other services.
  • Balance the cash drawer and prepare daily financial reports.
  • Monitor the lobby or entry area to ensure cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist with maintaining promotional materials and displays.
  • Provide assistance to staff during special events or busy periods.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions, memberships, and other relevant data.
  • Assist with clerical duties, such as filing, answering phones, and data entry.
  • Support other facility operations as needed, including light cleaning or assisting with event setup.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the lobby, pool deck, locker rooms, and other aquatic facility areas.
  • Set up and take down equipment for aquatic programs, swim lessons, and recreational activities.
  • Assist lifeguards with monitoring pool areas for safety concerns and help enforce facility rules when needed.
  • Restock supplies, such as towels, cleaning materials, and safety equipment.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or broken equipment to supervisors promptly.
  • Collaborate with lifeguards and aquatic instructors to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to push, pull, or lift 0-25 pounds (frequently), 50+ pounds (rarely).
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time in varying outside air temperatures and climate conditions.
  • While performing duties of this job, employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, jump, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Ability to walk, run, jump, or stand on uneven terrain.
  • Work involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks associated with responding to aquatic emergencies.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, chemicals, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
