Early Childhood Teacher
St. Lucy Day Care & Child Development CenterA Ministry of Catholic Charities
• Location: 1220 Aycock Street• Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)• Benefits Eligible: Yes• Schedule: Monday–Friday (Shifts between 6:30 AM – 5:15 PM)• Weekend Work: Occasional (Required Trainings)
Position Overview
St. Lucy Day Care & Child Development Center is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Early Childhood Teacher to join our team. This role is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of young children.
The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, patient, organized, and committed to fostering a positive learning environment rooted in care and respect.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the approved curriculum
Maintain a structured, clean, and organized classroom environment
Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and staff
Monitor and support children’s daily needs, including hygiene, meals, and transitions
Track and document student progress using Teaching Strategies (for CCAP students)
Communicate regularly with parents, including sharing student work and updates
Ensure classroom materials, toys, and equipment are cleaned and maintained
Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
Complete daily rosters and ensure proper sign-in/out procedures
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and center events
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience in early childhood education (daycare, Head Start, or school setting preferred)
CDA (Child Development Associate) credential preferred
CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to pass a criminal background check and Safe Environment training

Ability to engage young learners through creative and age-appropriate activities
Patient, attentive, and nurturing demeanor
Strong communication skills with both children and adults
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and interacting at child's level
Ability to respond quickly to children’s needs and classroom situations
