We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Staff Accountant to join our Accounting + Finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining our financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other financial transactions. This role requires a strong understanding of grant accounting and experience with Sage Intacct. The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Job Details

Responsibilities

1. Prepare financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and principles.
2. Manage the full cycle of accounting activities including journal entries, month-end close, and year-end audits.
3. Oversee grant accounting, ensuring all grants are accurately tracked and reported.
4. Use Sage Intacct to automate and streamline financial processes and reporting.
5. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and analyze financial variances.
6. Coordinate with other departments to gather information and clarify financial data.
7. Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
8. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance with grant financial operations and grant audit requirements.
9. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 1 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the Accounting + Finance industry.
3. Solid experience and understanding of grant accounting.
4. Proficiency in Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.
5. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
6. Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Excellent computer skills, especially with MS Excel and accounting software.
8. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
10. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
