Job Summary

The Nurse Educator works collaboratively with the nursing leaders to ensure staff have the knowledge and skills needed to provide quality patient care. Responsible for the assessment of education needs and the coordination and implementation of staff development in assigned area. Familiar with American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) format and expectations of professional development and continuing education content creation and delivery. Coordinates/participates in orientation and other organization-wide education activities. Serves as subject matter expert to assist staff as well as provide input into policy and procedure development and maintenance utilizing evidence-based practices. Fosters lifelong learning.

Experience in working with inpatient eating disorder populations, as approximately 20 hours of the role will be dedicated to this specialty-serving both a small portion of the pediatric population and the adult units. Additionally, the role encompasses responsibilities such as leading psychiatric orientation classes, AVADE training, and involvement in policy and procedure development, among other educational components.

Qualifications

Required: · Comprehensive nursing experience in education, professional development, and/or clinical managerial role. Knowledge of the scope of nursing as designated by the MA Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrate appropriate independent judgment and decision making based on acquired knowledge, skills and scientific principles. Demonstrated competency in development of educational programs and application of the principles of adult education. Knowledge of the application and utilization of audiovisual equipment. Ability to work autonomously. Flexible to meet the needs of various clinical teams. Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills. · 3+ years of related clinical and educational experience. · Bachelor's Degree in Nursing · Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Massachusetts · Current AHA BLS provider certification Preferred: - Master's Degree in Nursing- Certification in specialty area of practice - comprehensive Knowledge of the MA Department of Mental health licensing and operational standards for Mental health facilities - in patient units- Knowledge of Mental and behavioral health diagnosis across the lifespan- Competency in de-escalation, crisis management and restraint prevention strategies
