Ours is a no ego culture of collaboration and innovation where those seeking their next challenge can find big opportunities and make a huge impact on the lives of all those who we protect. We don't just want you to work here. We want you to grow and thrive here.

We're embracing a hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home. Hybrid for us means we expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days, typically Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday - working together in person and choosing where they work for the remainder of the week. We all benefit from flexibility and get to use the best of both worlds to get our work done.

Why are we hiring?

Well, we're growing and thriving. So, we need smart, talented, and humble people who share our values to join us as we disrupt the home security space and relentlessly pursue our mission of keeping Every Home Secure.

What You'll Do:

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide leadership for full lifecycle design of security focused products.
  • Identify and analyze the cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives, including impact on performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scale.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware, industrial design, sourcing and product management.
  • Drive the product development process from early-stage concept, through prototyping, testing, and production, to ensure products meet requirements, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Oversee prototype development and testing, including designing test strategies to validate product performance and resolve issues.
  • Lead design reviews and discussions with suppliers and global manufacturing partners to optimize the design for mass production.
  • Spot resource gaps early and engage the right subject-matter experts at the appropriate time.
  • Lead the communication and design execution with global manufacturing partners.
  • Support the creation of the Technical Requirements Document in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Define the overall product architecture and system-level design, ensuring alignment with product requirements, performance goals, and cross-functional constraints
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers.
  • Translate high-level product and system requirements into detailed, actionable tasks and deliverables.
  • Lead risk identification and mitigation activities across the program, with responsibility for maintaining the risk register.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, sensors, and manufacturing processes to inform product design and innovation.
  • Drive programs forward with a reasonable sense of urgency.
  • Influence product roadmaps.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 6 years working on consumer products.
  • Experience optimizing designs for battery operation with very low power usage.
  • Proven experience leading the design and development of complex systems from concept to mass production.
  • Experience working together with product management to understand the data-driven "why" and to be the voice of the customer.
  • Strong communication, EQ, and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience owning design validation plans, including defining test coverage across electrical, RF, connectivity, audio, and imaging subsystems in coordination with domain specialists and quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage at both the systems engineering level and as a technical contributor.
  • Experience in embedded systems design including design with UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, SDIO, MIPI, etc.
  • Experience with RF technologies including Sub-GHz, WiFi and BLE.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a demonstrated bias for action.
  • Travel: Willing to travel to our manufacturing partners in China 1-3 times per year

What Values You'll Share

  • Customer Obsessed- Building deep empathy for our customers, putting them at the core of our work, and developing strong, long-term relationships with them.
  • Aim High- Always challenging ourselves and others to raise the bar.
  • No Ego- Maintaining a "no job too small" attitude, and an open, inclusive and humble style.
