MaryAnns Baking Company
Full-time
In-Office | Sacramento, CA, United States
Help Us Bake the Future: Join Mary Ann’s Baking Company!
Since 1961, Mary Ann’s Baking Company has been a staple of quality and tradition. We are looking for a Staffing & Workforce Specialist who is ready to take our People Operations to the next level. If you are a high-energy recruiter, a scheduling mastermind, and a culture champion, we want you to lead our team into its next chapter.
The Vibe: Why This Role Matters
In this dynamic position, you aren't just filling seats; you are ensuring our facility is powered by a high-performing, reliable workforce that feels supported and engaged. You will report directly to the EVP of People, Safety & Process and serve as the central hub for our most valuable asset: our people.
Your Impact: The Day-to-Day
1. Talent Architect & Growth Expert
External Sourcing: Lead the full lifecycle recruitment for "high-skill" technical roles like Packaging Technicians, Mechanics, and Supervisors.
Local Partnerships: Build a robust pipeline of talent through community outreach, trade schools, and digital platforms.
Internal Promotions: Identify our next generation of leaders, helping Operators and Technicians grow into Team Leader roles.
2. Strategic Operations & Scheduling
Master Scheduling: Serve as the primary architect for our multi-shift hourly workforce schedule (8-10 hour shifts), ensuring we are always fully staffed for success.
Agency Management: Manage relationships with external staffing agencies to provide a reliable pool of both skilled and unskilled temporary labor.
Compliance Guru: Ensure every schedule is 100% compliant with California’s meal and rest break laws.
3. Culture Champion & Administrative Pro
Engagement Leader: Plan and facilitate employee-focused events like appreciation lunches and holiday celebrations.
Operational Continuity: Administer the hourly attendance program to keep our production lines running smoothly.
Shift Huddles: Support the facilitation of daily "tailgate" meetings to keep the whole team in the loop.
What You Bring to the Table
Experience: 3-5 years of recruitment or workforce coordination experience, specifically in a Manufacturing or CPG environment.
Tech Savvy: Proficiency with ATS and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for schedule modeling.
California Law Expertise: A deep understanding of California labor laws (Wage & Hour, Break Compliance).
People First: The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse and multi-shift workforce.
Grit: You are comfortable walking the production floor in varying conditions—from noisy floors to varying temperatures—to engage with your team.
How We Measure Success (KPIs)
Fill Rate: Keeping our shifts powered by the right combination of internal and agency staff.
Retention: Ensuring our new hires thrive past their first 90 days.
Scheduling Accuracy: Eliminating "short-staffed" incidents and unnecessary overtime.
Engagement Score: Driving positive feedback on our employee events and culture initiatives.
