Job Title: 3D Print Technician/Operator IIILocation: Newton, NCSchedule: M-F: 8-5, Occasional OT and weekend
Job SummaryThe 3D Print Technician/Operator plays both a hands-on technical and operational role in supporting cleanroom optical ribbon and fiber optic cable manufacturing. This position provides process expertise, equipment troubleshooting, and direct mechanical and design support. The role supports stable operations, continuous improvement, and production scale-up in a fast-growing manufacturing environment.
Applicants must have historical, hands-on experience in 3D modelling, design, printing, and testing of mechanical components, as well as be able to service and diagnose issues with 3D printing equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Process SupportOperate, monitor, and optimize cleanroom-based optical ribbon and cable manufacturing processesMonitor lines to ensure quality product & perform necessary QA checks to ensure product is manufactured to specification3D Printing, Modelling & Equipment SupportCreate, print and test 3D models in Autodesk Inventor modeling softwareCollaborate with team members to develop, implement, test and integrate equipment to optimize production processesSupport preventive maintenance and equipment reliability initiativesQuality & ComplianceEnsure adherence to cleanroom protocols, SOPs, and safety requirementsMonitor in-line and off-line quality metrics and drive corrective actionsEnsure compliance with ISO, Telcordia/GR, IEC, and customer specificationsParticipate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)Continuous ImprovementAnalyze process data using SPC and manufacturing systems to improve yield, throughput, and uptimeSupport Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiativesAssist with new equipment installation, process transfers, and plant expansion effortsRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred2-5 years of experinceExtensive experience and proficiency in Autodesk Inventor 3D Modelling and SolidworksHistorical hands-on experience in 3D modelling, design, printing and testing mechanical componentsProficiency in SPC, MES, and process data analysisAbility to read and interpret technical documentation, specifications, and proceduresUnderstanding of cleanroom operations and contamination controlStrong troubleshooting and communication skillsAttention to consistent material handling procedures with an awareness of safe material transport according to environmental and hazardous materials protocols.
[Preferred QualificationsHands-on experience with high-count or rollable ribbon fiber products, optical fiber handling, ribbonization, and precision equipmentLean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certificationExperience supporting rapid production scale-up in a cleanroom environmentPhysical & Work RequirementsAbility to work on the cleanroom manufacturing floor for extended periodsManual dexterity for fine fiber handling and equipment adjustmentsAbility to lift up to 25 lbsAbility to wear cleanroom garments for full shiftWork EnvironmentDay shift in a controlled cleanroom optical manufacturing facilityExposure to controlled fiber materials, precision equipment, and cleanroom processes
