Job Description
Help keep patient care running smoothly behind the scenes. As a Central Staffing Specialist, you'll play a critical role in coordinating staffing resources across the health system, ensuring units have the support they need to deliver exceptional patient care. This fast-paced position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy problem-solving, and can confidently make decisions in real time.
Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
What You'll Do
Coordinate and adjust staffing levels in partnership with unit leaders and operational leadership
Reallocate staff resources based on patient care needs and census changes
Post, monitor, and update open shifts while maintaining accurate scheduling records
Assist with schedule balancing and communicate staffing coverage changes
Coordinate sitter utilization, incentive requests, and travel staff approvals
Support bed management and staffing needs for overflow units
Follow staffing and fiscal guidelines during low-census periods
Provide administrative support related to payroll, compliance, audits, and reporting
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies

Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Basic math skills, including ratios and percentages
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Computer proficiency, including scheduling software and electronic health records (or ability to learn)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
Work Environment
Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the shift
Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
Healthcare environment with potential exposure to infectious diseases, chemicals, and medical equipment
Telecommuting not available
