Job Description

STARLINK PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN - TWTA

A TWTA is a high-power microwave amplifier that uses a Traveling Wave Tube to amplify radio frequency (RF) signals. At SpaceX, TWTAs are used in Starlink Gateways as part of the communications payload. They are valued for their ability to provide high output power and efficiency at high frequencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble and integrate Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs)
  • Mount TWT tubes, power supplies, and thermal hardware with precision
  • Perform high-voltage electrical wiring and connections
  • Align RF waveguides and connectors to meet performance specifications
  • Conduct functional testing, tuning, and troubleshooting of TWTAs
  • Work in cleanrooms following strict ESD, contamination, and safety procedures
  • Document assembly steps and complete quality inspection records

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school degree or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience using common hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, ratchets, Allen keys, torque wrenches, pliers, and multimeters)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical, precision, or high-volume manufacturing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, assembly procedures, and parts lists
  • Experience with high-voltage RF hardware, vacuum tube amplifiers, or satellite/aerospace electronics assembly
  • Familiarity with RF testing equipment and cleanroom protocols
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows operating systems
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift times: 1st shift: 6 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: 

  • Pay range:    
  • Starlink Production Technician/Level 1: $22.00 - $26.50/hour    
  • Starlink Production Technician/Level 2: $25.50 - $31.00/hour    
  • Starlink Production Technician/Level 3: $29.50 - $37.00/hour    
  • Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

    Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k)-retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Non-exempt Washington employees are eligible for sick leave in accordance with Washington's Sick Leave policies. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
